CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. — A shooting on Riverside Drive involved members of two Clarksville motorcycle groups, according to a police report obtained by The Leaf-Chronicle.

James Jarid Burton, 28, of Dyersburg was arrested Saturday and charged with aggravated assault.

According to a Clarksville Police Department report, Burton, known as "J Rod" is a member of the Rebels motorcycle club.

Burton was arguing with Subdued Few motorcycle member Carl Barber outside the Subdued Few's clubhouse at 634 Riverside Drive when he shot Barber in the foot at about 6:30 a.m. Saturday, the report says.

Shannon Shaw, 52, told police he was behind the building when he heard the shot fired and went to see what happened.

As Burton was leaving in a pickup, Shaw said he saw a back window open and an arm reach out with what he thinks was a gun and then he heard a pop.

He said he fired at the pickup with his own gun.

Clarksville Police blocked off the area around the Subdued Few clubhouse as they investigated Saturday morning.

A short time later police arrested Burton at the Rebels clubhouse at 204 Providence Boulevard.

Burton was booked into the Montgomery County Jail on $250,000 bond.

No one else had been charged as of Monday afternoon. The police report lists both Shaw and Barber as victims.

Barber, 52, was taken to Gateway Medical Center for treatment.
